Terror Alert in Europe – Concern for Safety is Unfounded!
America’s International Travel Expert™ Provides Tips for Safe Travel

BOISE, ID (October 4, 2010)—As more countries issue warnings for major tourist sites in
Europe, many travelers are concerned for their safety. America’s International Travel Expert™
and million-mile traveler Stuart Gustafson says that concern is unfounded. “Travelers should
always exercise some caution when they are in a different country, so this situation doesn’t
introduce anything new to the equation,” Gustafson says. “If you were a ‘bad traveler’ before
the current alerts, you were already in danger. But if you were already a ‘safe traveler,’ then
you really don’t have anything new to worry about,” he continues.

However, he does offer these tips for travelers to employ anytime they are outside the USA:

1.        Avoid excessive outward displays of being an American. This means things like don’t
wear clothing that looks like an American flag; don’t wave your USA passport for everyone to
see; be discreet when you are exchanging US Dollars for local currency.

2.        If a stranger approaches you, and you are concerned, respond in a foreign language
(even if what you are saying doesn’t make sense). Those two years of high school Spanish,
French, or Italian, just might come in handy. If he tries to continue the conversation, turn and
briskly walk away – to an open area, not a crowded place.

3.        Never show your identification unless you are in a situation where you feel totally
comfortable. If someone on the street asks you for your ID, ask them for their superior –
everyone has one. If you feel in real danger, scream as loud as you can!
